Youth Baseball Program Overview
We offer multiple levels of baseball to match your child’s age and skill level.
Please note:
All schedules are dependent on weather and field conditions. Times and dates are subject to change. Please contact the Recreation Center or your coach for the most up-to-date information.
Registration Deadlines
- Cal Ripken Baseball: Friday, March 20
- All Other Baseball Programs: Wednesday, April 1
Late Registration Fees
- $35 late fee applies after deadlines if space is available
- Cal Ripken programs do NOT accept late registrations
Refund Policy
- Late registration fees are non-refundable
- Full refund of sports fee if cancelled within 2 weeks of practice starting
- After 2 weeks: refund is prorated
- After 4 weeks: NO refunds
Levels of Play and Grade Breakdown
Typical Grade Placement
• T-Ball / Coach Pitch: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd Grade
• Minors (Cal Ripken): 3rd & 4th Grade
• Majors (Cal Ripken): 5th & 6th Grade
Players should always register for the grade they are currently in. Placement may be adjusted based on skill level and evaluations.

T-Ball & Coach Pitch Programs

T-Ball (Coed)
• Ages: 4 years old (second year of Kindergarten), Pre-K & Kindergarten
• Practice: Saturdays, 10:00–10:45 AM @ Vail Field
• Season: After April Break through June
• Coaches Needed
Coach Pitch (Coed)
• Grades: 1st & 2nd
• Practice: Mondays & Wednesdays, 3:30–4:30 PM @ Vail Field
• Season: After April Break through June
• Coaches Needed
These are instructional programs designed to teach the fundamentals of throwing, catching, hitting, and understanding the basic rules of baseball. Games against nearby communities will be scheduled throughout the season.

Cal Ripken Baseball Program

Coaches: Justin Park, Maggie Fitzgerald, Richard Olmstead, Ryan Townsend
Cal Ripken Baseball is an age-based, player-pitched league following official Cal Ripken Rules and Bylaws. Games are played in Woodstock and the surrounding areas.
Skill Evaluation Day
• March 28 at TBA
• Players will throw, catch, and hit to evaluate skill level
• Players may be moved to a different but appropriate level after evaluations
Important Notes for Cal Ripken Placement
• Minors & Majors are PLAYER-PITCH ONLY
• 2nd graders:
o New players should play Coach Pitch/T-Ball
o Players who fear being hit or struggle with catching should play Coach Pitch/T-Ball
o In limited cases, skilled 2nd graders may be moved up ONLY if roster space allows
• Placement decisions are made by coaching and Recreation staff to ensure player success and safety

• Practice:Tuesdays & Thursdays: 5:00–6:30 PM, Saturdays: 9:00–10:30 AM

Majors (5th–6th Grade | 12U)
• Practice: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays: 5:00–6:30 PM
• Start Date: TBA
Registration Deadline: March 20
No late registration accepted
If numbers allow, two teams may be formed at both the Minors and Majors levels, divided evenly by skill.

• Cleats are highly recommended
• Placement is based on:
1. Skill level
2. Siblings (if requested)
The Recreation Department’s goal is to give every child the opportunity to play baseball. School, friends, or coaching preferences are not considered in team placement.
